Medicaid Managed Care Organization (MCO) Transition InformationIn August, the Kansas Health Policy Authority awarded two new contracts for managed care in Kansas. After a competitive bidding process, UniCare Health Plan of Kansas received a statewide contract and Children's Mercy Family Health Partners was awarded contracts for Region 1 and 2 (Northeast and Southeast Kansas). On January 1, 2007, they began serving 160,000 Kansans. The transition appears to be going smoothly, and the planning process appears to be working well. All members have been enrolled in either plan and began receiving coverage from the plans on Monday. We are very focused on ensuring the continuity of care for our beneficiaries and on fixing any unforeseen hiccups. KHPA continues to monitor the transition. If you are a provider and have questions, please call UniCare at 866.268.1473 or Children’s Mercy FHP at 800.347.9363. -- January 3, 2007 Communication to Address Optometric Concerns:
